Spiewak A-2 Flight Leather Jacket
Spiewak A-2 leather jacket, Initial designs for the A-2 flight jacket came in the early 1930s, evolving from the A-1. A2 Spiewak flight jackets were made primarily from horse or goat leather. The A2 jackets have been designed with durable knit closures, cuffs and waistband. Both the A1 and A2 jackets have similar cuts, but unlike the A1 jacket which had buttons, the A2s instead featured sturdy zippers. The addition of the zippers and collar to the A2 would have contributed to the sophistication and elegance it had compared to the A1 jackets. The A2 remained in vogue until 1943 when fewer and fewer people started using it. But despite this, its meaning cannot be forgotten by those who knew it. Detail of a stitches back.
